Doing Sparkle Text Without Using Glitter Gifs Page 2
If you want to make your own gradient, that is up to you, but you can use one you already have or just use the background and forground... If you make your own, you can add as many colors as you want. I seem to have trouble using the gradients I made a second time, as they always seem to change with the backgrounds and foregrounds. But if you would like to use the one I used, you can get it here in a zip just unzip it into your PSP Gradient Folder ...
Perhaps a tutorial for a later date
Next step is to prepare your image for adding your text. Go to the layer palette and Merge All (flatten)
Guess we are just about ready to add our text and get into the meat of this tutorial. First set your foreground to 'NULL' and your background to your chosen 'Gradient'. Select your Text tool Note that you are going to use just the 'fill' and Create as Vector. Using the Vector makes for a sharp, clear font and is nice for resizing it to fit your image without distortion. Use whatever size and choose your font. I used TimesNew Roman for mine on this particular image, but you can use whatever you like. Type your message. Click OK
Pay attention here because this little tip will come in very handy for many other applications.
The layer palette will show a new 'Vector Layer' with a + (plus) sign... you are to click on the plus sign, and right-click on the layer just below the main Vector Layer... it Does not highlight, so don't get excited... you will now chose, "Create Raster Selection" and release your mouse. Now, right-click on the 'Vector Layer' which is still highlighted and "Convert to Raster Layer" - Note the marching ants around your text... Cool huh!
Now we will apply our inner bevel with these settings:
Now, got back to the layer palette and 'Merge Visible' Do NOT Deselect or Merge Flatten, if you do your text will no longer be selected. It must be selected for the next steps.
HERE WE Go!!!!!!! Fun- fun!
This is where we add our glitter... Duplicate your layer 2 more times for a total of 3 layers. and x out layer 2 and layer 3 on the glasses... Your text should still be selected.... Go to Effects > Noise > Add and a new window (see below) will open
Use these settings:
Don't panic here the preview window looks like there is noise all over the place but 'tis not so! Click OK
Repeat this for layer 2 with Noise set at 60 and again on layer 3 with Noise at 80...
This is when I add my Drop Shadow... Before I deselect my text, I go to each individual layer and add my drop shadow with these settings, you can use whatever you want as long as it is the same for all three layers.
Now go to Selections - Select None -- if you right-click on your image, it could (I say COULD) move the text! So always go to the Menu Bar to deselect or use the keyboard shortcut stroke...
